SYRACUSE --

If you're looking for an excuse to clean out your house, this is the time to do it. You can bring your old household electronics, also known as e-waste, to the Ley Creek Transfer Station this Saturday.

Not sure what you can recycle? Think about things like old computers, printers, TVs, radios and game consoles that are collecting dust.

It'll cost you $10 to recycle your television, monitor or laptop. Everything else is free. Click here for a list of the types of items accepted.

"Residents can be assured their old electronics are recycled safely and properly by an upstate New York company," says Ken Johnson, Operations Manager at Maven Technologies. OCRRA employs Maven Technologies of Rochester, NY, to handle our community's e-waste recycling needs.

To drop off e-waste, you must bring a completed certification form with you. You can download the form here.

If you're a business owner, this isn't the time you can drop off unwanted electronic items. Click here for year-round household and business recycling options.

Thanks to this program, more than 3.5 million pounds of e-waste has been recycled since 2002.

They'll be accepting your old electronics Saturday from 8am to noon. The Ley Creek Transfer Station is located off Route 81, at the 7th North Street Exit, across from the Pilot Travel Center.

There are other drop-off sites across the region. The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority collects e-waste all year long. They're open six days a week, Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm and Saturday from 8am-2pm at facility at 1600 E. Genesee St. in Utica.

In Madison County, computers and TVs must be separated from the rest of your trash. They collect it year-round at several locations.
