WASHINGTON -- There's apparently a group of very wealthy people taking over Washington. According to a new report in POLITICO, nearly a quarter of the incoming class of 84 House Republicans come with some serious personal wealth. The POLITICO analysis of financial disclosure forms finds they each have assets of at least $1 million.
Among them is Richard Hanna, who ousted two-term Rep. Michael Arcuri in November. Hanna, a Republican, is the wealthy owner of a construction company who has vowed to bring greater fiscal restraint to government. He will now represent the 24th Congressional district, which covers the Utica area.
POLITICO says Hanna is worth at least $10 million. Read the full article here.
Hanna narrowly lost to Arcuri in 2008. Now, he's taking over his job.
