ONONDAGA CO. -- The Onondaga County Health Department is reaching out to pregnant women. They hosted a program called "Healthy Families" Friday morning to give expectant women information about becoming a parent.

"The goal of the Healthy Families Program is to improve the health of mothers and infants through early identification, outreach, referral, and home visiting to high risk pregnant women and newborns," said Linda Karmen, Deputy Commissioner of Health.

Healthy Families provides women with information about infant growth and development, developmental disabilities, health insurance, immunizations and lead testing, nutrition, parenting, mental health and depression and alcohol and substance abuse.
