Now 15 drawings with no big winner
SYRACUSE, NY -- There are a lot of disappointed, but still hopeful people this New Year's, with no winner in the Megamillions drawing.
But, the next drawing, on Tuesday, will be even bigger: at least $290-million. Right now, there's a 'lose streak'--15 straight bi-weekly drawings without a big winner. But people across the country keep buying chances.
Rocky's Newsstand in Syracuse was busy with people buying tickets Friday.
Joseph Godley says he has a feeling his ticket is a winner, and he has his plans all set if he wins.
"I'll go to the moon," he says.
Ruben Vidal bought six tickets, and his plans are a little more down-to-earth.
"My mom always plays, and she always says when she wins, she's going to help all her family. That's what I want to do, too. Help all my family," he says.
Scott Trudell says winning would be a great way to start 2011.
"I'd probably buy a new car and go to dinner," he says.
Nicole Watson is a sales associate at Mobil on James St. in Syracuse. She says people have been buying tickets non-stop, and she's not going to be left out.
"I bought like $30 worth," she says. "I really want to win."
If you win the $242 million and accept it as a lump sum, after taxes, the winnings will be about $150 million.
