LIVERPOOL -- Liverpool High School got off to a late start this morning due to a gas odor at the school.
Superintendent Dr. Richard Johns tells CNY Central that the district found a clogged pipe in the vent release of one of the building's boilers this morning, which was the cause of the odor.
Dr. Johns say the clog has now been cleared. The district will be working with an engineering firm to redirect the pipe so this doesn't happen again.
School leaders say the building is safe and classes are underway. Because of the late start, Regents Exams were pushed back to 10:15 a.m.
The Liverpool School District says a gas odor at the high school has delayed the start of classes for grades 10-12. 9th grade staff and students are asked to report to school at their regular time, because the 9th grade is housed in a separate building on the campus.
Students scheduled to take 8:30 a.m. Regents Exams will now take the tests at 10:15 a.m.
The building was evacuated Monday afternoon for a gas leak, but things were cleared up in time for last night's board of education meeting.
