SHERRILL -- The City of Sherrill is looking for a new police chief.

Chief James Hastings was let go at the end of last week after a disciplinary hearing. Hastings has been caught up in controversy after his six-year-old grandson allegedly overdosed on meth while in his care. Hastings' son Jason is facing criminal charges in connection to that overdose.

The city says it will take the next few weeks to decide how to fill the open position.
