Snowmen, ice castles & lots of food and drinks
So what if it's snowing sideways? Syracuse Winterfest is on, and there are lots of events, inside and out.
Bill Cooper, who organizes it all, says the Winterfest Ice Castle is being carved. Owasco's Joe Borasky spent a year on the design, and is now assembling the three-level, 16-foot high castle on the northeast corner of Clinton Square. They are also ice carving, Chef Adam Vural is out on Saturday 1 - 3pm. And the Sugarman Law Firm's Squareman Contest (in Armory Square) is a snowman building competition, 1 - 2:30pm Saturday.
In addition there's a Culinary Cruise (advance sale tickets sold out, more are available at the door) of downtown Syracuse restaurants, noon - 4pm, with a shuttle to connect stops. Also noon - 4, a Hurricane and a Martini Mix-off. And Kids' Fest is 10 - 6 at Paradise Market (Erie Blvd) both Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday highlights include a kids' breakfast at PJ's Pub, Blues Brunch with live music at Empire Brewing, and free skating 7 - 9pm at Clinton Square.
