SARANAC LAKE, NY (AP) -- A trail of blood led police in Saranac Lake to a suspect in a music store burglary.

The Adirondack Daily Enterprise reports that the store's display window was smashed early Friday and a guitar was stolen. The burglar apparently cut himself on the broken window glass, because police were able to follow a trail of blood to a nearby apartment building and through the hallways to the apartment of 19-year-old Kurtis Walrath. He was charged with burglary and petit larceny as well as failure to appear in court for a prior arrest.

A 17-year-old boy was charged with criminal mischief in connection with the break-in.

Both were arraigned by village Justice Ken McLaughlin and released under the supervision of probation.

Police said they recovered the guitar.
