Empower warns customers about website scam

The next time you log onto the internet, be careful which websites you click on.

Empower Federal Credit Union is issuing a warning about a scam. They company notified CNY Central of the scam in a news release sent out Friday.

Empower says scammers are trying to use fake website to target its members. The company says scammers are trying to buy websites similar to theirs like www.empower-fuc.com and www.em-pOwe.rf.cu.com. These are not associated with Empower, and the company warns it's unsafe to put any of your personal information on these sites. Make sure not to disclose your credit card number and expiration dates, as scammers could try to use that information.

Empower says it will never ask you to confirm any of your personal information online unless you initiated contact with them.

Empower's correct website address is: www.empowerfcu.com. If you have further questions or concerns, you can call Empower at (800) 462-5000.
