UTICA -- A Utica man is accused of throwing a beer bottle at his ex-girlfriend in an attack that, she says, left her unconscious.

Utica police say Osman Rizvanovic, 25, of Morris Street, turned himself in at police headquarters following the alleged case of domestic violence. He is now charged with assault, a felony.

Police say the trouble started around 12:45 a.m. Sunday at Club UNA at 620 Eagle Street in Utica. When they got there, police say a woman told them her ex-boyfriend threw a beer bottle at her, hitting her on the forehead with it. She claims to have lost consciousness during the incident. She sustained a laceration, pain and swelling to her forehead.

The woman was treated at the scene by Utica fire department medics and transported to St. Luke's Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
