REDWOOD (AP) -- State police are investigating the death of a 62-year-old kayaker who apparently drowned in Millsite Lake in the Jefferson County town of Redwood, about 90 miles north of Syracuse.
Police say Mark J. Tamkus was found under his capsized kayak in a small area of open water in front of his home on Millsite Lake at 3 p.m. on Thursday. His family had reported him missing earlier in the day.
The Jefferson County STAR team recovered the body. Troopers said the cause of death appears to be an accidental drowning.
