SYRACUSE -- Friends and family of a toddler who was killed in a gang shooting last year have set up a billboard to mark the child's birthday.
Rashad Walker, Jr. would have been two years old today, but he was shot and killed in November while he sat in a car seat in a mini van.
21-year-old Saquan Evans was charged with murder in connection with the child's death. Police allege Evans was targeting Walker's father as retaliation for another gang-related shooting that killed former Henninger High School athlete Kihary Blue.
The electronic billboard, which rotates advertising messages, is located on South on South Salina Street at East Raynor Avenue.
The sign wishes Rashad a Happy Birthday, and says "I could have been a doctor," and then begs to please stop the gun violence.
