FULTON, OSWEGO CO. -- If you travel on State Route 481 at the north end of Fulton, be aware you need to slow down as the speed limit has changed.

The State Transportation Department recently lowered the speed limit from 45 mph to 35 mph following a request from Fulton police.

This affects the portion of 481 between Ontario Street and the Indian Point Boat Launch, which is about 1 tenth of a mile south of the north city line.

The affected stretch of road is home to several businesses including Mimi's Restaurant and the Oswego County Building, which houses several offices including the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Authorities hope the reduced speed limit will make the area safer.

The speed limit remains 45 mph from the boat launch North to the city line.
