SYRACUSE -- Update, 7:30pm:

We're learning new information after police arrest a man accused of stabbing another person to death.

Syracuse Police say on March 17th, Tyrone Loftin, Jr. of Ellis Street pulled up to a house at 121 Pulaski Street, and went to the backyard to speak with someone. Police say when he returned to the front of the house, he spotted Clarence Lucas.

Police say both men had dated the same woman, and Loftin had a child with her. Police believe Lucas was with the woman at the time.

Investigators say Loftin went to his car before coming back and starting a fight. Police say Loftin had a knife and stabbed Lucas, killing him.

On Thursday, Syracuse Police arrested Loftin at 112 Roxboro Circle in Mattydale. Roxboro Circle is part of the Orchard Estates. Police say he was staying with a woman. He was arrested without incident. Officers found him based on a clue from the Warrants Department.

The investigation is still ongoing, and police are looking to see if anyone aided Loftin. There could be more charges based on anyone who helped him stay hidden for so long.

Original Story:

Police have made an arrest in the case of a man wanted for a stabbing death last month.

Syracuse Police have scheduled a news conference for this evening to announce the arrest of 23-year-old Tyrone C. Loftin Jr. of Ellis Street in Syracuse. Police say Loftin, also known as “Ty” or “Tinker”, is accused of stabbing 23-year-old Clarence Lucas of Syracuse to death on St. Patrick’s Day.

Police say that Loftin and Lucas were involved in a fight on Pulaski Street, where Lucas sustained fatal wounds after being stabbed repeatedly. Lucas died at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse the next day. Police then issued an alert on Loftin, naming him as a wanted man on second degree murder charges and calling him "armed and dangerous."

CNY Central will be at the news conference and will have more on this story later this evening.
