DEWITT, ONONDAGA CO. -- Travelers who wanted to use Interstate 481 in DeWitt had to make a bit of a detour.
DeWitt Police announced early Friday afternoon that they had to shut down I-481 northbound at the DeWitt exit (3E) due to a motor vehicle accident involving a dump truck. Police say the crash, which happened around 12:45 p.m., resulted in a load of stone being dumped onto the highway.
Police advised commuters to find an alternate route while the scene was being cleared. The closure lasted a little less than two hours, but the highway has since reopened.
