SYRACUSE -- The Onondaga County district attorney's office is starting up a new program for those arrested or those in danger of being arrested for 'sexting'.

There's been many cases where teenagers have sent naked pictures to each other and those photos have ended up on the Internet. Not only could it be humiliating, but there could be legal ramifications as well since possessing and disseminating child pornography is against the law.

As part of the program mandatory sessions will be taught by police officers at the public safety building in Syracuse.

"It's an educational program," says Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick. "We're going to educate the teenagers mostly about the social and legal implications of sending naked photos back and forth to each other."

Area schools will be involved by referring cases.

"I think it's a very very good way to deal with a serious problem," Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick says classes will be starting in a month.
