ONONDAGA -- Powerful April storms did a number on Tom Brunner's lawn on Wolf Hollow in the town of Onondaga.
But if you take a look at it today -- it's hard to tell that nearly two weeks ago, he had to install his own tubing system to divert storm water from his backyard to his driveway.
"Well it's great now, everything is wonderfully green," Brunner said. "We're not going to have to water (the grass) for a while."
Brunner is all smiles, even after shelling out $200 for tubing and utility pump for his garage. That tubing system now sits underneath his deck, collecting dust. Now, Brunner said he is focused on cutting his long, thick, green grass -- something he hasn't been able to do with such a wet yard.
And while folks on Wolf Hollow Road start to get back to a normal life, Onondaga County continues to tally up how much those April storms will cost. Right now, there's an estimated $8 million in damages -- but if the state can document between $24-$25 million, we could get some financial assistance from the federal government.
