CHITTENANGO -- Thousands of people will be following the yellow brick road to Oz-Stravaganza in Chittenango this weekend.
The annual event honors L. Frank Baum, who wrote the "Wizard of Oz" books. Baum is originally from Chittenango.
The theme of this year's event is "Celebrating Dorothy," and, as part of the celebration, visitors can see a collection of Judy Garland's dresses that she wore in her movies.
The festival has also opened "All Things Oz," which is an exhibit about Baum's history and the influence the "Wizard of Oz" has had.
Visitors will also be able to meet some of the original munchkins. Margaret Pellegrini was "the flowerpot munchkin" in the movie, and always looks forward to the festival.
"I love it. I love it," says Pellegrini. "I couldn't wait until today came. I was excited about going."
The festival is also an economic boost for Chittenango. It brings in 15,000- 20,000 people each year.
