WASHINGTON (AP) -- Some Congressmen from New York state want to authorize flag presentations at funerals for federal civilian employees killed on the job.

Families of military members killed during active service currently receive American flags at funerals. Rep. Richard Hanna of central New York plans to introduce a bill Tuesday he says would offer the same recognition to federal civilian employees.

Hanna says federal employees deserve the recognition.

More than 2,000 federal civilian employees have been killed on duty since 1995.

Hanna is sponsoring the bill with Rep. Maurice Hinchey, a Hudson Valley Democrat. Fourteen House members have signed on as co-sponsors, including Rep. Bill Owens, a northern New York Democrat.
