CICERO -- An Onondaga County woman is under arrest after police say she started two fires last year.

According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 59-year-old Donna Burke of Hamilton Road in Cicero on Tuesday and charged her with third degree arson, accusing her of intentionally setting a fire in the basement of her home. During that investigation, police say fire officials recognized Burke’s name from an investigation into an October 2010 storage room fire at the Allen Meadow Apartments on Bear Road in Clay. Detectives followed up on that lead, and say that Burke admitted to causing the apartment building fire by tossing a lit cigarette into a storage area.

Burke has been charged with felony second degree arson for the apartment fire. She was arraigned in Clay Town Court on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. She is scheduled to return to court on June 28.
