SHERBURNE -- A Chenango County man is under arrest after police say he had inappropriate sexual contact with a young child.
According to State Police, troopers arrested Charles L. Collins III of Sherburne on charges of felony predatory sexual assault against a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Police say an investigation led them to an alleged incident that occurred in the summer of 2008 in the Village of Sherburne which involved a child under the age of 13. Police did not specify the exact nature of the alleged conduct.
Police also say that at the time of his arrest, Collins was in possession of a small amount of marijuana.
Collins was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
