AUBURN -- Auburn police have identified the man killed in a fire at his home.
76-year-old Edward Parker died in the fire at his home at 23 West Street.
It broke out around 6:45 p.m. When police and firefighters arrived on the scene, they found Parker unconscious on the sidewalk outside. A neighbor was trying to help him.
Investigators say Parker was cooking food on his stove when he was overcome by the smoke. He was able to make it outside where he collapsed.

Police in Auburn say an elderly man was killed when a fire sparked inside his West Street home.
Officers say the 76-year-old man was cooking food on the stove shortly before seven o'clock Thursday night when smoke from the cooking overwhelmed him. He managed to get outside, but collapsed on the sidewalk. When firefighters arrived, a neighbor was trying to help him.
