DERUYTER -- A Deruyter man is accused of choking a woman until she was unconscious. Police say it happened in front of a child.

State police arrested 20-year-old Andrew Carnrike on Saturday. He's accused of choking the woman into unconsciousness following a domestic dispute at their home.

Carnrike is charged with strangulation, criminal obstruction of breathing, assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned in the Town of Deruyter Court and sent to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
