WATERTOWN -- A Service Manager at a Watertown car dealership is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the company.

State police say 45-year-old Lyle Salter, of 20967 ST-180 in Dexter, stole approximately $22,820 from Davidson's Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC located at 18423 US-11 in the Town of Watertown.

Salter was employed there as a Service Manager between October of 2008 and July of 2011. During that time, police say he altered repair orders to conceal the theft.

Salter is charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records, both felonies.

He was arraigned in the Town of Watertown Court and was released pending grand jury action.

Do you think he should have been put in jail pending the review by the grand jury? If convicted, what would be an appropriate sentence? Leave your thoughts below.
