CARSON COUNTY, TX -- Two Syracuse natives are behind bars in Texas after police found $160,000 cash inside their vehicle.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says a State Trooper stopped a 2005 Acura for speeding on Interstate 40 in Carson County, five miles west of Conway, at about 9:30 Wednesday morning.

During the stop, consent to search the vehicle was granted and $160,000 was found concealed inside the exhaust system.

Driver Nandito Candelario and passenger Joel Rivera, both of Syracuse, were arrested and booked into the Carson County Jail for money laundering.

The pair said they were traveling to Fontana, California.
