SYRACUSE (AP) -- A Syracuse man has pleaded guilty to illegal possession of an alligator and an albino Burmese python and paid a $150 fine.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that the state Department of Environmental Conservation raided Paul Bailey's house in May and seized his six-foot alligator, named Howard, and eight-foot python, named Sponge Bob.

Bailey pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful possession of a wild animal on Wednesday and paid the fine. Do you think it should be illegal for someone to own exotic pets like this?

The alligator was placed in the Rochester zoo and the python with a licensed wildlife rehabilitator.
