CLAYTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Authorities say six people have been injured, two of them seriously, when their motor boat struck a shoal in the St. Lawrence River near the Canadian border in northern New York.

State park police tell the Watertown Daily Times that the 23-foot boat struck the shoal off Calumet Island in the Thousand Islands region around 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

The injured were transported to shore by park police and Clayton Fire Department boats.

Police say four of the injured were taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown. One was later transferred to a Rochester hospital and another was taken to a hospital in Syracuse.

The names and conditions of the injured weren't released.

Police say their investigation into the crash is continuing.
