SYRACUSE (AP) -- A family physician who also served as part-time medical director for the Syracuse school district has failed to persuade the state to soften its disciplinary action against him for sending sexually suggestive text messages to a teenage boy.

A Health Department administrative review board rejected an appeal from Dr. Richard Kulak. He asked the state to temporarily suspend his medical license and put him on probation instead of revoking his license.

A hearing committee of the state Board for Professional Medical Conduct voted unanimously earlier this year to take away Kulak's license. The review board affirmed the committee's decision, saying it found his conduct with the 16-year-old boy "deeply troubling."

The 41-year-old Kulak pleaded guilty last year of sexting the teen, a former patient.

Do you think Dr. Kulak should have lost his license in this case? Leave a comment below and give us your opinion.
