OSWEGO COUNTY -- Oswego County has postponed spraying for mosquitoes once again.

County officials waited as long as possible Thursday evening to make the determination, but wind speeds were just too high. The County will take another shot at spraying Friday night.

County officials say the planes should cover the Mexico, Albion, and Parish areas, starting with Mexico and going as far as they can in one night.

The approximate boundaries are from the southern edge of the village of Mexico line from state Route 69 to state Route 3 along Munger Hill Road, continuing across state Route 3 to Hurlbutt Road; from Hurlbutt Road west to county Route 64; west on county Route 64 to county Route 6. From county Route 6 south to county Route 4; county Route 4 east to state Route 3, state Route 3 south to the intersection of county Route 35A. From this point, south and east to the intersection of Winks Road and county Route 45. From this point to a line north and east to the intersection of county Route 4 and county Route 45 (Upson Corners). From county Route 45 east to US Route 11; from US Route 11 north to Markowitz Road; from Markowitz Road west to Kenyon Road; from Kenyon Road north to state Route 69; from state Route 69 northwest to Munger Hill Road.

Spraying will also happen in the Dugway vicinity in Parish and Albion. The approximate boundaries there are on the west by U.S. Route 81, to the south by Kipp Road to the intersection of Searles Road; Searles Road north to Canfield Road; and Canfield Road east to county Route 22. From this intersection, east to the intersection of White Hill Road and Churchill Road; Churchill Road north to New York State Route 104; New York State Route 104 west to Albion Cross Road; north on Albion Cross Road to Bull Run Road; then a line from this point to U.S. Route 81.

The Health Department decided to spray for mosquitoes to help prevent the spread of Eastern Equine Encephalitis, or EEE. Several mosquito pools throughout the county have tested positive for the virus. Earlier this month, EEE killed Maggie Wilcox, a four-year-old girl from New Haven.

Oswego County was able to spray certain areas on Saturday and Tuesday evenings, but weather has postponed spraying every other night.
