SYRACUSE -- After being closed for more than 24 hours, eastbound lanes on the New York State Thruway from Syracuse to the Albany are back open.

Eastbound lanes from exit 34-A (DeWitt) to Exit 25-A (Schenectady) had been closed because of flooding concerns following Hurricane Irene.

Motorists had been asked to take a lengthy detour down I-81 South to the greater Binghamton region before taking I-88 back up to the Thruway.

Early Wednesday morning, the Thruway Authority announced the westbound lanes between Exit 25-A (Schenectady) and Exit 30 (Herkimer) have re-opened after flooding concerns.

Traffic will remain restricted to one lane in the vicinity of the Schoharie Creek.
