Birds of Prey a big draw
GEDDES -- A bit of the wild is at the State Fair Park: Rick West has brought his 'hobby'---hawks, falcons and owls for Fairgoers to see and get pictures with.
West is a retired state parks worker from Adams and was asked to fill in for his friend who used to show birds of prey at the fair for decades (but now has a contract elsewhere)--and he says he's glad to do it, to also promote state parks.
At noon, he showed us a Spectacled Owl, native to Brazil, though Rick bred this bird himself (after the cameras were off he told us his power went out two days before the owl was set to hatch, so he carried the egg in his armpit to keep it warm.)--the things you learn at the State Fair!
