Flooding threatens bridges in Cincinnatus

CINCINNATUS, CORTLAND COUNTY -- Rising water is causing some concerns in the Cortland County Town of Cincinattus Thursday.
The Cortland County Fire Department says the Otselic River is well above flood stage. The high water shutdown parts of several roads and flooded several basements.
Doug Van Etten, Deputy Fire Coordinator for Cortland County, says the big concern now is two bridges which cross over the Otselic River in the center of town. Van Etten says the rising water is already up to the base of the Telephone Road Bridge. "We will have to see what things look like once the water drops and get a sense of just how bad the damage is but there is plenty to be concerned about at this point," he says.
Residents like Leslie Frink were also concerned. Frink's basement is under water and she is concerned that the flooding could spread to the rest of her house. "My concern is the that the river is going to keep moving this way," she says.
The Cortland County Fire Department has shut the power off to several houses as a precautionary measure.
