WAMPSVILLE, MADISON CO. --

A Madison County man faces up to six years in prison after admitting he killed a woman with his car while driving distracted last fall.

37-year-old Jason Forshee of Chittenango was in Madison County Court Tuesday morning, where he pleaded guilty to a charge felony first degree vehicular manslaughter. He had been accused of looking down at his cell phone while driving when he veered off of Route 5 in the Town of Sullivan last November, hitting 57-year-old Lynn Eggert while she and her husband Steven were walking their dog. Eggert was killed.

Police say Forshee was also on prescription drugs and had smoked marijuana the night before the crash. It happened in broad daylight, around 11:15 a.m., just about a mile from the Eggerts' home.

Neither Forshee nor Steven Eggert were hurt were in the crash.

Forshee faces a maximum sentence of two to six years in prison when he is sentenced on December 1.
