ALBANY (AP) -- A new report shows two indicted New York state senators spent the most among lawmakers over the course of a half year.
The Empire Center for New York State Policy report covers how the Legislature spent $105 million on themselves and their offices from last October through March, the end of the state fiscal year.
Former Democratic Sen. Pedro Espada Jr. spent more than $790,000. He faces a federal trial this fall on charges he misused government grants secured by his Bronx health clinic.
Democratic Sen. Carl Kruger of Brooklyn spent $650,000. He's accused in a bribery case.
The reports were released Tuesday on SeeThroughNY.net.
The Senate's Republican majority pledges to spend millions less on a payroll with 350 fewer employees than when the Democrats held the majority in 2008-2010.
