SYRACUSE -- A Syracuse man has been indicted by an Onondaga County grand jury on murder charges.
23-year-old Tyrone Loftin Jr., of 411 Ellis Street, is accused of stabbing a man to death on St. Patrick's Day. He was indicted on charges of second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
It happened March 17 outside a home at 121 Pulaski Street. Police say Loftin, also known as "Ty" or "Tinker," went to the backyard to speak with someone. When he returned to the front of the house, police say, Loftin spotted Clarence Lucas. Police say they had both dated the same woman, and Loftin had a child with her. Police believe Lucas was with the woman at the time.
Investigators say Loftin went to his car before coming back and starting a fight. They say Loftin had a knife and stabbed Lucas, killing him.
Police arrested later Loftin at Orchard Estates on Roxboro Circle in Mattydale, where he was staying with a woman.
