LYONSDALE, LEWIS COUNTY (AP) -- Authorities say a 62-year-old New Jersey man has died of injuries suffered in a kayaking accident in northern New York.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Department says William De Angelis of Mount Laurel, N.J., was kayaking Sunday afternoon on the Moose River when his craft went over a ledge in the town of Lyonsdale, on the western edge of the Adirondack Park 60 miles northeast of Syracuse.

Deputies say De Angelis was ejected from his kayak. Other kayakers pulled him onto a rock in the middle of the river and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation until emergency responders arrived.

De Angelis was taken to Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville, where he was pronounced dead.

A cause of death has yet to be determined.
