OSWEGO -- An Oswego woman is accused of welfare fraud.

34-year-old Gretchen Shepard, of Moore St. Bldg. 4, is charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.

Oswego County Sheriff's deputies say she didn't notify the Department of Social Services of her income and was able to received food stamp benefits.

Shepard was arraigned in Parish Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She's due back in the Town of Mexico Court on November 1.
