OSWEGO CO. -- A Central Square woman is accused of faking a pregnancy, claiming it was a married man's child and demanding $5,000 from his wife to pay for an abortion.
The trouble begins back in 2008 when 32-year-old Kimberly Payment, of 852 US Route 11, Lot 146, allegedly had an affair with the man. When he broke off their relationship, things went sour. According toe Oswego County Sheriff's deputies, Payment sent a text message to the man's wife, demanding money.
It turns out, deputies say, Payment was never pregnant at all, and she was unable to have children. She had a medical procedure a decade earlier to prevent herself from getting pregnant.
Payment was arraigned in Scriba Town Court on grand larceny charges. She was later released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Hastings Town Court on Wednesday.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office at (315) 349-3411.
