LIVERPOOL -- A Liverpool woman accused of killing her newborn baby has been indicted by a grand jury.
30-year-old Nicole DeJaynes, of 4336 Forestbrook Drive, is charged with second degree murder and firs degree manslaughter for the death of her baby girl last winter.
Baby "Isabella Marie", as she was named by Liverpool police, was found in a trash dumpster outside an apartment complex on Pearl Street on January 6. According to the medical examiner, the baby girl was suffocated shortly after she was born. Defense attorney Thomas Ryan has said DeJaynes thought the baby was dead when she gave birth.
The newborn was laid to rest in March. Liverpool police organized the funeral arrangements.
DeJaynes was arrested nine days after the baby was found, after being released from a medical facility where she was reportedly treated for complications from the pregnancy.
DeJaynes faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted of second-degree murder.
