SYRACUSE -- OCCUPY protesters in Syracuse admit, this Thanksgiving has been unique to say the least.
For many, instead of spending the day with their family -- they've been camped out on the corner of South Salina Street. For them, national movements like this don't take holidays off.
"If we're going to get our message out we should always be here, constantly supporting our cause," said Jeremy Bailey, who has been part of the OCCUPY Syracuse movement for several weeks.
But the meaning of Thanksgiving is not lost on the makeshift campsite. Protesters have been taking turns writing what they are thankful for on a large piece of paper. Also, Thanksgiving signs hang from the side of the main tent.
Meanwhile, people have been dropping by the campsite all day, donating food.
"We're going to have our own Thanksgiving and it's going to be very nice," said Paige Lynne Gonyea.
In terms of the OCCUPY movement, Thanksgiving Day was slow -- but late tomorrow morning, another protest is planned outside Carousel Center.
