MINEOLA, NASSAU CO. (AP) -- A fifth New York student has surrendered to face charges he was paid to take college entrance exams for others.

Michael Pomerantz reported to Nassau County authorities on Monday morning. He was implicated last week in a growing SAT/ACT cheating scandal.

Prosecutors say 18-year-old Pomerantz and four others were paid between $500 and $3,600 to impersonate other students. Like the others, he was expected to plead not guilty and be released without bail.

An attorney for Pomerantz did not immediately return a telephone call for comment.

Also Monday, the last of 15 students accused of paying to have someone take their tests surrendered. Those 15 are not being identified because they are juveniles.

The scandal has prompted a review by a state Senate subcommittee on higher education.
