VERONA, ONEDIA CO. -- A Utica man was charged Wednesday for violating an order of protectionafter domestic dispute at Turning Stone Casino Sunday.
State Police in Oneida are investigating a domestic dispute that happened around 4:15am Sunday morning at Turning Stone after the Oneida Nation Police Department got reports of a physical dispute at the hotel.
Police say they arrested Selvedin Nuhanovic, 27, aggravated criminal contempt, a felony, after it was discovered he had physically assaulted a female companion during the dispute.
Police say the investigation revealed that Nuhanovic had physically assaulted the female by punching and choking her during the dispute and that the female had an order of protection in place against Nuhanovic issued through the City of Utica Court.
Nuhanovic also punched a hole in the wall of the casino security office while being detained.
Police charged Nuhanovic with aggravated criminal contempt, assault criminal obstruction of breathing, and criminal mischief.
Police say they took Nuhanovic to barracks in Oneida and arraigned in the Town of Verona Court. He was remanded to the Oneida County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
The 29 year old female victim was transported from the scene to the Oneida Healthcare Facility, where she was treated for a broken nose.
