FRANKFORT, HERKIMER CO. (AP) -- Federal authorities say a central New York man has been charged with growing more than 3,000 marijuana plants inside a central New York barn.

Officials tell local media outlets that state police and Drug Enforcement Administration agents on Wednesday executed a federal search warrant for a property in the southern Herkimer County town of Frankfort, just east of Utica.

Authorities say they found more than 3,200 pot plants growing in a barn on the property.

They say 41-year-old Corey Leitz has been charged with growing, cultivating and processing marijuana.

Leitz is being held pending a detention hearing set for Monday.

It couldn't be immediately determined if he had a lawyer.
