FULTON -- A local man is under arrest after allegedly intentionally causing a motor vehicle crash, and police say this isn’t the first time he or a member of his immediate family has been on the wrong side of the law.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office tells CNY Central that around 11:00 Thursday night deputies arrested 21-year-old Martin O. Woodward of Country Lane in Fulton on charges of felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. Police say Woodward intentionally rammed his car into a 2002 Mercury Contour driven by an unknown individual, causing a crash on Country Lane.
This isn’t the first time in the past year or so that Woodward found himself in county custody. In late November 2010 he was arrested and accused of trying to steal merchandise from the Granby Walmart on Black Friday. CNY Central put in a call to the Oswego County District Attorney's Office and the Granby Town Court to find out how the case was resolved, but was told by both parties that they could not give out that information.
Also, the sheriff’s office tells us that the suspect is the son of Martin Lane Woodward, also of Fulton, who just this past Wednesday was arrested on several child sex abuse charges, including rape, for allegedly having inappropriate sexual contact with two pre-teen girls eight to ten years ago.
The younger Woodward was arraigned in Hannibal Town Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail on $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. He is due back in court on January 9.
