VAN BUREN -- The Onondaga County Sheriff's Department has released the autopsy report in the murder of Rebecca Dethlefs.

The Medical Examiner says the 56-year-old woman was killed by "blunt force trauma to the head." The information was part of a short news release. Deputies did not divulge anything more than that determination.

Dethlefs' husband, 67-year-old Robert Burger, is charged with second degree murder in the case. He is already on lifetime parole for a murder in New York City. Burger served nearly 30-years in prison.

Dethlefs' body was found in her home at the Village Green Apartment building in Van Buren on Friday. Investigators say she had been dead for several days by the time they found her.
