MASSENA (AP) -- Victor Fregoe has never stepped foot in Manhattan. But according to the phone book, the northern New York resident is living in the Big Apple.
The Watertown Daily Times reports that Fregoe and more than 20 other St. Lawrence County residents are listed in the Verizon Superpages as having New York City addresses. Their street addresses and phone numbers are correct, but the book lists their place of residence as Manhattan.
The rural county on the Canadian border is located 275 miles north of the city.
Fregoe has lived in the same house in Massena for the past 52 years. He says he doesn't know how his phone book listing got changed to Manhattan.
A Verizon Superpages spokesman told the newspaper the company doesn't have an explanation for the misprints.
