SYRACUSE -- Wind gusts as strong as 50 miles per hour raced through Central New York Tuesday night, causing scattered power outages in some areas.
National Grid reports approximately 900 Onondaga and Oswego County residents remain without power as of 10:25 a.m., with restoration expected to be completed this afternoon. The remainder of CNY homes which experienced outages overnight have largely been restored.

On the CNY Central Facebook page, our friends described the weather situation in their hometowns late Tuesday night. Reyna Thomas wrote, "Oswego County has had over 20 calls for trees & wires down in less than an hour."
Roxanne Holdridge Green checked in on Facebook from Cato telling us, "High winds in Cato. Sounds like a freight train coming at the house."
Mike Macbeth is in the Syracuse University area and wrote, "We got flickering lights in the outer Comstock area."
At the top of the nearby Carrier Dome, wind sensors reported a record-breaking 105 mile per hour gust at 10:40 p.m.
