WATERTOWN (AP) -- A 26-year-old woman has been found guilty of manslaughter but acquitted of murder in the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend during a fight in their northern New York apartment in 2010.

Local media outlets report that a Jefferson County Court jury convicted former Fort Drum soldier Krista Goley on Monday of first-degree manslaughter in the killing of 21-year-old Timothy Rolland. The jury acquitted her of second-degree murder.

Prosecutors say Goley used a butcher knife to stab Rolland during a fight in their Watertown apartment in September 2010. She told police she acted in self-defense when Rolland attempted to hit her.

Goley faces five to 25 years in prison when she's sentenced March 16.
