SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner has announced her choices for the new Citizen Review Board.
Under the new laws for the CRB, the mayor can appoint three of the eleven members. The CRB reviews complaints regarding the Syracuse Police Department.
The mayor has named Timothy (Noble) Jennings-Bey, Diane Turner, and Rachel Smith to the board.
Jennings-Bey is currently the director of the Trauma Response Team at the United Way of Central New York. He has also served as a violence prevention specialist for the Syracuse Model Neighborhood Facility and an outreach consultant for the Partnership to Reduce Juvenile Gun Violence.
Diane Turner is the president of the Southside Interfaith Community Development Corporation. She also serves on the board of the Interreligious Food Consortium, Syracuse Model Neighborhood Facility, and Onondaga Earth Corps. Turner is a member of the City of Syracuse Commission for Women.
Rachel Smith is an office manager at Tucker Missionary Baptist Church. She is a Nottingham High School and Onondaga Community College graduate. Smith has worked at Royal & Sun Alliance, and is active in programs assisting people transitioning from prison back into the community.
Jennings-Bey will serve a three year term. Turner will serve to a two year term. Smith will serve a one-year term. All three live in Syracuse.
The appointments are effective immediately.
