SYRACUSE -- Syracuse police arrested a teenager at Carousel Center after they say he had a sawed off shotgun.
Around 10 p.m. Friday, police responded to a fight outside the Regal Movie Theaters. The first officer on the scene found 15 to 20 people in a fight near the ticket booths. Then the officer saw a male on the ground who appeared to have been knocked out during a fight. Lying on the ground next to him, he saw three shotgun shells.
The officer also saw several males taking off toward the escalator. Other responding officers tried to stop those running away. Police say one 15-year-old tried to push police away and keep running. He was stopped by an officer and as that officer tried to gain control, police say other young men tried to stop officers from taking the 15-year-old into custody. Police say they found a sawed off shotgun hidden in the sleeve of the jacket. The teen's jacket fell off during an altercation with a police officer.
Police are not identifying the teenager because of his age. He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
A second juvenile was charged with resisting arrest and harassment.
